The Adecco Group and Barnardo’s build two-year partnership to unlock young people’s career potential
We are proud to announce that along with our UK-based Adecco Group colleagues, Adecco has launched a two-year partnership with Barnardo’s, the UK’s largest national children’s charity. Over the course of 2024 and 2025, we will use our proven recruitment expertise to boost young people’s employability and ready them for the world of work. The partnership will also see our team undertake large-scale volunteering and fundraising commitments to help support the work done by local Barnardo’s teams up and down the country.
By 19-21 years old, four in ten care-experienced young people are not in education, employment, or training. To widen the field of opportunity, Barnardo’s currently helps over 3,000 young people every year access qualifications, jobs advice, and apprenticeship programmes.
Our teams will strengthen these vital efforts with purpose-built employment, training, and skills workshops. Young people in locations with the most pressing need will receive personalised CV, interview, and career guidance from our expert hiring specialists.
In addition to providing targeted career support, The Adecco Group’s 2,300-strong team will offer fundraising and volunteer hours to power Barnardo’s 800 critical services, including counselling for children who have been abused, supported lodgings for care leavers, and short breaks for young carers. A shared commitment to inclusion will also be leveraged, with The Adecco Group’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I)experts looking at specific strategies to address intersectionality – the ways that multiple forms of inequality can compound themselves and create further obstacles.
In total, The Adecco Group aims to raise £200,000 and contribute 400 volunteer hours across the two-year collaboration.
Niki Turner-Harding, Country Head, Adecco UK & Ireland, said:
‘We’re thrilled to work alongside Barnardo’s to help make the future work for disadvantaged young people. As a business dedicated to making work mean more, we recognise that the right first career steps can transform lives forever. We want our partnership to drive ambition, unlock potential, and turn obstacles into opportunities. It’s a privilege to help Barnardo’s protect, empower, and inspire young people across the UK.’
Lynn Perry MBE, Chief Executive, Barnardo’s, said:
‘We are delighted to be partnering with The Adecco Group UK & Ireland, an organisation with such a similar corporate ethos to ours at Barnardo’s. Our purpose is to empower children and young people to live happier, healthier, more hopeful lives – a huge part of this is making sure they’re prepared for the world of work and able to pursue their goals. The Adecco Group’s expertise will be incredibly useful in helping us on this mission, and the passion their employees have already shown to supporting our charity is very much appreciated.'
